How to Clean a Pool Filter
Cartridge, sand, and DE filters each require different cleaning.
Cartridge
Hose off every 4 to 6 weeks. Deep-soak in filter cleaner annually. Replace every 3 to 5 years.
Sand
Backwash weekly. Change sand every 5 to 7 years.
DE
Backwash + add DE powder every 4 to 6 weeks. Open and clean grids annually.
