How to Clear Cloudy Pool Water

Cloudy water is caused by chemistry imbalance, filter issues, or fine particulate.

Diagnose the Cause

  • High pH (over 7.8): scale forms, water turns cloudy
  • Low free chlorine: organic load builds up
  • Dirty or undersized filter
  • Fine debris from storm or pollen

Fix

  1. Test pH and alkalinity. Lower pH if above 7.8
  2. Shock the pool
  3. Run pump 24 hours straight
  4. Add clarifier or flocculant
  5. Backwash or clean filter
