Bonding
Bonding is a electrical safety practice that connects all metal components within 5 feet of the pool (rebar, ladder, handrails, equipment) to a common bonding grid via #8 AWG copper wire, eliminating voltage differentials that could shock swimmers.
Also worth knowing
Distinct from grounding. Bonding equalizes potential across metal; grounding provides a fault current return path. Both are required under NEC 680.
