GFCI
GFCI is a ground-fault circuit interrupter that detects imbalances between hot and neutral current as small as 4-6 milliamps and trips the circuit in under 25 milliseconds, protecting swimmers from electrical shock at pool equipment and pool lighting circuits.
Also worth knowing
NEC Article 680 requires GFCI protection on every pool circuit. Never bypass a tripping GFCI — the trip indicates a genuine fault requiring diagnosis.
